The headlines are filled with reports of mass data breaches - often exposing personal information about hundreds of thousands or even millions of individuals – of credit and debit card accounts, Social Security numbers, medical records, passwords, and more.
The Identity Theft Resources Center has reported that there were 629 breaches in 2015, through October, exposing 175,638,537 records. Whether you or a client is a victim of one of these breaches, has lost a purse or wallet, or has given credentials through a phishing email, taking the right steps and documenting them can help to prevent or limit damage and expedite recovery.
This program explores the legal and practical considerations for response and recovery and identifies resources for reporting and assistance.
