Removing or limiting who has access to criminal records
Over the last few years, lawmakers have recognized more harms associated with criminal history records, and responded by modernizing the pardon process and creating a new form of relief called a Limited Access Order. The law went into effect Nov. 12, 2016. An expungement, however, still remains as the only legal remedy to destroy criminal history.
This CLE will provide the authority, procedure, eligibility, and some best practices about the new Pathway to Pardons program, limited access orders, and expungements to help attorneys provide holistic relief to people impacted by criminal history.
