About

This session will look at the role of the pro bono lawyer in helping those in need access justice in Pennsylvania and beyond in 2017. The rule of law only exists to the extent that it works for all. Rights mean little if those entitled to them are not aware they exist. Due process is of doubtful value when you are illiterate, or unable to understand the proceedings. Courts are of little value for those who cannot afford the costs to reach them, from filing fees not waived to transportation costs. How a pro bono lawyer can make a difference, and the ethical implications of those actions, will be examined. Substantive issues from expungement to immigration will provide the prism for this pro bono ethics exploration.
