About

Different from previous seminars presented by the attorneys Fred Jacoby & Robert Watson, this seminar is designed to teach about the practical applications of the lien law using the example of a typical unpaid subcontractor who contacts counsel regarding filing a lien claim to recover payment due him for his work. Watson will address advice given before the subcontractor enters into his subcontract, as well as following the failure of the Contractor to make payment to him for his work. Jacoby will assume the role of counsel for the Owner and/or Contractor in advising them how to best protect themselves from potential claims, and what steps to take in the event that a subcontractor files a mechanics lien claim. The seminar will address why the PA Mechanics’ Lien Law exists, how real estate owners & developers can better protect themselves under recent amendments to the statute, and what actions the law allows owners to take when faced with payment claims of subcontractors in addressing their claims.

Recorded at A Day on Real Estate East – August 2018
