DIRECTOR OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (March 27, 2018)

The Pennsylvania Bar Institute (PBI), the continuing legal education arm of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, is searching to fill the position of Director Information Technology. This position is located in the Mechanicsburg, PA headquarters and supports the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh satellite offices.

PBI’s Director Information Technology will: 

  1. Manage and maintain the accuracy and integrity of PBI’s computer-based information and business systems.
  2. Create and implement updates and process improvements to these systems as necessary.
  3. Improve PBI’s employees’ ease of use and productivity with the PBI systems.
  4. Supervise the IT Department Staff (currently two) and contractors/consultants.
  5. Participate as a member of the PBI team responsible for the ongoing optimization and updating of PBI’s Association Management System (AMS), Learning Management System (LMS), Financial Management System (FMS), Content Management System (CMS), and related software systems.
  6. Assist with the management of PBI’s website and Social Media presence and strategic plans.
  7. Collaboratively work with all levels of PBI employees, managers and support personnel to achieve the delivery of high quality PBI services and publications.
  8. Manage the hardware purchases and resource utilization for PBI as well as work with Business department to keep accurate account of PBI IT assets and their disposal for accounting purposes. 
  9. Maintain currency with IT industry trends & tools, software programs and best practices especially as relevant to PBI.

Diverse candidates with the following credentials are encouraged to apply:

  • 5+ years of experience in the information systems field including network management and design
  • Prior work experience with database management systems and maintaining security protocols required.
  • Familiarity with PBI’s association management/business system (Aptify) is a plus. Candidates should be conversant with as many of the following as possible:
    • SQL Queries/Stored Procedures
    • Crystal Reports
    • ASP .NET (C#/VB)
    • Windows Server/Active Directory Administration
    • Network Administration
    • Firewall Administration
    • Exchange Management
    • Microsoft Office 365 Management
    • SharePoint Management
    • Disaster Recovery Planning
    • AVAYA telephone system 
  • Direct experience or consulting in the on-ground education, on-line education and publication industries helpful. Non-profit association experience also helpful.
  • A BS degree in IT, computer science or computer networking/engineering is preferred. A combination of a relevant degree and commensurate IT experience will be considered.
  • Supervising direct IT employees, contractors and consultants required.
  • Strong communication skills to explain and understand all PBI users’ IT needs needed.

MARKETING MANAGER

The Pennsylvania Bar Institute (PBI), the continuing legal education arm of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, is searching to fill the position of Marketing Manager mainly working in the Mechanicsburg, PA office.  

PBI’s Marketing Manager will:

  1. Be asked to increase PBI’s customer base, and market share, particularly among new lawyers.
  2. Manage PBI’s brand by creating, maintaining and enforcing brand standards.
  3. Lead PBI’s marketing function, including assessing the need for talent development and training.
  4. Creatively develop, expand and continually evaluate PBI’s marketing of on-line education.
  5. Use data analytics and PBI’s association management software (APTIFY AMS) to evaluate the effectiveness of PBI’s marketing campaigns and program initiatives.  Evaluate attorney/participant buying patterns, trends and interest in new training products/programs.
  6. Oversee and strategically direct the PBI website and social media marketing/communication plans to insure that PBI is effectively managing its product mix.
  7. Develop and implement comprehensive, multi-channel customer loyalty and retention programs.
  8. Coordinate any relevant PBI publicity strategy. 
  9. Maintain currency with industry marketing trends and tools, software programs and best practices, especially as relevant to continuing professional education providers.

Diverse candidates with the following credentials are encouraged to apply:

  • 6+ years of marketing experience with at least 3 years of marketing and brand management experience. Experience in marketing continuing professional education preferred.
  • Experience in the on-ground education, on-line education and publication industries are preferred.
  • A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate business, communications or internet marketing education discipline is preferred.
  • 3rd party email marketing platform experience with programs like GroupMail, Real Magnet, Informz or Highroad Solutions, and 3rd party surveying platform experience preferred.  
  • Experience with product/service branding, marketing to niche markets and strategic planning required. 
  • Excellent organization and project management skills needed as well as strong computer and analytical skills.  
  • Must be a strong communicator with all PBI constituents and stakeholders of the organization.
