In 2019, numerous amendments were incorporated into the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), along with extensive proposed regulations from that state’s attorney general. New legislation related to data processing, security practices or breach notification procedures also was passed in at least eight other states. This session will: (i) provide an update on compliance requirements under some of these new laws and regulations; (ii) provide guidance on how to navigate the increasingly complex patchwork of state laws on data privacy and security; and (iii) consider the practicability and advisability of U.S. businesses having two different privacy schemes – one for the E.U. and one for the U.S.

Presenters: Stephen M. Foxman, Esq. and Roger J. LaLonde, Esq.

Recorded at Business Law Institute 2019 – Nov. 21, 2019
