Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) – used in a variety of industrial and consumer applications due to their resistance to heat, water, and oil – remain the most widely discussed emerging contaminant due to increased regulatory action and pending litigation. Pennsylvania is among the growing list of states conducting sampling, hiring toxicologists, and beginning the process for possibly setting a state drinking water standard.
