In recent years, the Pennsylvania gaming industry has experienced unprecedented growth and expansion.
Enter Covid
Initially, the gambling industry was among the many global business markets that was negatively impacted by the Covid-19 health crisis. The American Gaming Association estimated in March a potential $21 billion loss from the closures of casinos throughout the U.S.
The Game-Changer
While in-person gambling plummeted, Americans bored in the lockdown turned to online gambling, which soared, becoming the holy grail for gambling revenues. Thanks to advancements in technology (especially regarding smartphones and apps), higher trust in online money exchange and the increasing digitization of the world, this rapid climb is expected to continue, solidifying the gaming industry’s impact as a powerful economic engine and a dynamic job creator.
Pennsylvania law and regulation of this area are evolving nearly as rapidly.
