This presentation will examine recent efforts by government and private entities to affect social determinants of health, with a focus on food insecurity, diet, and nutrition. Towards this end, the presentation will address: what social determinants of health actually are, and their impact on health care and related expenses; the specific impact of food insecurity, diet, and nutrition on health care; Federal and private efforts and programs to address food insecurity, diet, and nutrition; and legal risks and complications associated with participation in such programs.
