Real Estate Law - The Year in Review 2021
What are the most significant cases and legislative statutes in real estate law over the past year? Get a quick summary of the important developments in our lively annual case law and legislative update.

Condo and HOA Case Law and Legislative Update 2021
The 2021 legislative session continues to include new laws affecting community associations. We’ll review those along with our up-to-the-minute case law update in our interactive hour together. Targeted to attorneys representing developers, associations, purchasers or those who reside in an association.

Recalibrating Zoning in a World of COVID
The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted so many aspects of our lives. The world of zoning has been impacted as well, with people turning to accessory uses of property to accommodate changes in lifestyle.
This course will review zoning fundamentals and consider how COVID has impacted zoning, including the application process and the conduct of hearings.

Negotiating PAR Residential Agreements of Sale
The Standard Agreement for the Sale of Real Estate published by the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors (PAR) is ubiquitous.  It is also lengthy!
This session will help you understanding the intricacies of this important document and give you the practical means of negotiating terms favorable to your client. Additionally, we will explore litigating the deal gone bad.

Selected Ethical Considerations Applicable to Real Estate Transactions
This session will cover handling difficult clients, navigating remote litigation, and figuring out your client using a hypothetical real estate construction defect case. The program will point out some pitfalls of remote technology, offer pointers on handling clients who try to drag you across ethical lines, and address the perils of representing multiple people in the same case.
A second hypothetical will cover the hazards facing the attorney who serves multiple roles in a real estate sale where disclosure has become even more important because of the Covid-induced real estate market frenzy.

Landlord-Tenant Proceedings in Post-Covid Era
The COVID-19 Pandemic has changed, perhaps permanently, the world in which we live. Just as all other sectors of the economy have been forced to adapt to never-before-seen restrictions, safety protocols, and precautions, the legal industry has found itself faced with many new challenges ranging from closed courthouses to remote depositions.
However, no part of the legal industry has seen as much turmoil and confusion as the landlord/tenant realm. Eviction moratoriums were enacted on the state and federal levels, expired, renewed by government and the courts, and then taken away again.
As a result, landlords and tenants alike have been left confused as to their respective rights, duties, and obligations when it comes to evictions, all of which are subject to change with little or no notice.
This course will discuss the current state of residential evictions in Pennsylvania, as well as what landlords and tenants can expect as we hopefully move forward and out of this pandemic.

Recorded at Day One of the Real Estate Institute in December 2021.
