Earlier this year, the Pennsylvania Commission on Sentencing published a working draft of sentencing guidelines proposals for public comment. The proposals were developed following a comprehensive review of the guidelines that began in 2014 and suggest a restructuring of the guidelines to: provide more targeted sentence recommendations; redirect the primary focus of the recommendations on factors related to the conviction offense; and reduce the impact of the prior record score. This update will address the feedback received during public hearings, and the next steps being considered by the Commission toward adoption of the 8th Edition Sentencing Guidelines.
