In February 2023, the Commonwealth Court issued a landmark decision finding Pennsylvania’s school funding system is unconstitutional and must be reformed. Specifically, the Court ruled that all students must have access to a “comprehensive, effective and contemporary education” and the current funding system is inadequate and discriminates against students in low-wealth public schools by depriving them of essential school resources.
In this course, participants will learn from trial attorneys at the Education Law Center and Public Interest Law Center about the decision and next steps towards creating a constitutionally compliant system.
