Faculty

Justin P. Schorr, PhD

Justin P. Schorr, Ph.D., is the President and Principal Collision Reconstruction Engineer at DJS Associates, Inc., a full-service, forensic engineering and consulting firm in Abington, PA. Dr. Schorr’s career in forensic investigations began long before completing his 25 years of formal education, as an intern for his father and grandfather, both of whom he credits his most valuable training to. In addition to earning his Doctorate in Civil and Environmental Transportation Engineering, he has completed continuing education courses and earned certifications in Event Data Recorder Use in Traffic Crash Reconstruction, Berla iVe Vehicle System Forensics (Infotainment), PC-Crash, Laser Scanning, and more. Prior to his role at DJS, Dr. Schorr served as an adjunct professor and the lead researcher at the Vehicle Instrumentation and Driver Simulation Laboratory at George Washington University. As an expert in Collision Reconstruction, Dr. Schorr utilizes his past teaching experience to simplify potentially complex scientific scenarios and effectively convey relevant concepts to clients, judges, and juries. He extends his engaging teaching style beyond the courtroom, offering valuable insights to the legal, insurance, law enforcement, and engineering communities. Along with the other experts and consultants at DJS, Dr. Schorr provides CE and CLE-accredited presentations covering a range of topics, including autonomous vehicles, collision reconstruction, and innovative court-accepted demonstratives. As a sought-after speaker, Dr. Schorr accepts several annual invitations to present at conferences organized by the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, the New Jersey Association for Justice, and the Florida Insurance Fraud Education Committee, among others. More recently, Dr. Schorr has also collaborated with several podcast series hosted by both local industry professionals and well-known content creators. He looks forward to additional opportunities to connect, educate, and learn from new audiences.

Scott B. Cooper, Esq.

Mr. Cooper is a partner at the Harrisburg-based personal injury law firm of Schmidt Kramer P.C. where he specializes in personal injury law with an emphasis on motor vehicle accident and insurance cases. An active member of the Pennsylvania Association for Justice (PAJ), Mr. Cooper served as its 2012-13 President. He is also chairman of its Legislative Policy Committee and has served on both the Executive Committee and Board of Governors. He is also the Treasurer of LAWPAC, the Association’s PAC. Mr. Cooper has an AV Preeminent Martindale-Hubbell rating. In November 2014, Mr. Cooper was appointed by then Pennsylvania Governor-elect Tom Wolf to act as a co-chair for the transition team committee overseeing the Department of the Commonwealth/State. In 2012, Mr. Cooper was appointed by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to its Appellate Court Rules Committee. He has also been appointed as a Hearing Officer with the Pennsylvania Disciplinary Board. In 2020, Mr. Cooper was appointed by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to its Civil Procedure Rules Committee and was appointed by the Court this year to service as the Committees’ Vice-Chair. In July 2021 he was appointed by Pennsylvania Governor Wolf to the Pennsylvania Judicial Conduct Board, and he was elected this year by the Board to service as its Chair. Mr. Cooper has been named by Pennsylvania Super Lawyers as one of the top 100 lawyers in the Commonwealth every year since 2011. In 2008, Mr. Cooper was honored by PAJ and awarded its prestigious Milton D. Rosenberg Award for leadership and efforts for victims’ rights. In 2005, Mr. Cooper received the Association’s prestigious George F. Douglas Amicus Curiae Award for outstanding appellate advocacy. In addition, Mr. Cooper has been selected for inclusion as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer every year from 2006 to the present, and in 2005 was a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer Rising Stars. He has also been named to the Best Lawyers In America each year since 2012. Mr. Cooper has been actively involved in many important appellate cases in the Pennsylvania Supreme and Superior Courts and United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, including Donovan v. State Farm, Gallagher v. GEICO, Rush v. Erie Ins. Exch., Rancosky v. Washington National, Allstate v. Wolfe, Ayers v. Geico, Heller v. League of Cities, Bumbarger v. Peerless, State Farm v. Rosenthal, Sackett v. Nationwide, and Smith v. Rohrbaugh. Mr. Cooper is also a member of the American Association for Justice (AAJ) and the Pennsylvania and Dauphin County Bar Associations. He is a member of the Dauphin County Bar Association and is currently its Immediate Past-President. In 2021 he was named to the Board of Directors of the Joe Allegrini Children’s Hero Fund Board and this year was re-appointed to another term. Mr. Cooper is an editor for the leading treatise on Pennsylvania Auto Insurance released in December 2012, the Third Edition of the Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Financial Responsibility Law, Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Insurance: An Analysis of the Financial Responsibility Law. He is also an editor of all supplements for the Third Edition and was also a contributing editor on the Second Edition of the treatise. He is also the author of The A to Z of Civil Depositions in Pennsylvania published by PBI Press in February 2013. The text is a manual for attorneys who need assistance and ideas with handling various types of civil depositions in the Pennsylvania state and federal courts. Mr. Cooper received his J.D. from Widener University School of Law (1993) and his B.A. from the University at Albany (1990). He is a frequent lecturer and author, who is also involved with the community through the Harrisburg Jewish Community Center and as an Adjunct Professor at Widener Law Commonwealth.

Kathleen S. McAllister, Esq.

Kathleen S. McAllister is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, where she earned a Bachelors of Arts degree in English 1976. Kathleen earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 1979. Kathleen’s practice focuses on litigation in the areas of complex insurance coverage and litigation, extra-contractual insurance litigation, motor vehicle and premises liability, commercial litigation, product liability and personal injury with over 75% of her practice devoted to litigation. She was a founding member of DiBella Weinheimer, P.C. in 1995, then known as DiBella & Geer, P.C. Since that time, Kathleen has tried numerous arbitrations, bench, and jury trials to verdict in various counties of Pennsylvania and West Virginia. She has also argued several successful appeals in front of the Pennsylvania Superior Court. Kathleen remains a very active trial lawyer, and has tried over a forty cases to verdict. Kathleen is admitted to practice in both the courts of Pennsylvania and West Virginia, including the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, the United States District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia, and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. Kathleen is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association and the West Virginia Bar Association. In 2002, Kathleen became a member of the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County. She is Past President for the Federal Court Section of the Allegheny County Bar Association and a member of DRI (Defense Research Institute). She is a frequent speaker with the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and has presented seminars on issues involving motor vehicle litigation, the Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Financial Responsibility Law, bad faith, trial tactics and insurance law. Kathleen is a Southwestern Pennsylvania native, and returned to the area after finishing her undergraduate and graduate studies. She currently lives in Bethel Park with her husband and two of her seven children.

Scott R. Eberle, Esq.

Scott is a shareholder in the Professional Liability Department with over 20 years of experience defending professionals against malpractice and other professional liability claims. He often defends lawyers against claims of malpractice and malicious prosecution. Scott also has extensive experience counseling lawyers on professional ethics and professional responsibility matters, including those facing disciplinary charges before the Office of Disciplinary Counsel as well as matters before the Pennsylvania Lawyers Fund for Client Security, the Pennsylvania Judicial Board and the Pennsylvania State Ethics Commission. While his practice is largely focused on defending lawyers and law firms, he also frequently defends accountants, engineers, real estate agents, insurance agents and design professionals in a variety of professional liability lawsuits. Scott is well known within the Pennsylvania legal community and is a frequent speaker at industry events. Among his many professional memberships, he is a member of the House of Delegates of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and Co-Vice Chair of its Professional Liability Committee. He is also active in the Allegheny County Bar Association where he is a member of the Ethics and Lawyer Professional Liability Committee. Additionally, he is a member of the Professional Liability Defense Federation. Prior to joining Marshall Dennehey, Scott chaired the Ethics & Legal Malpractice Team at a Pittsburgh-based firm. A graduate of Duquesne University School of Law and DePauw University, he is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the United States Court of Federal Claims.

Suzanne T. Tighe, Esq.

Suzanne Tighe is a partner in Chartwell Law’s Philadelphia office, where she focuses on the defense of insurance related claims. Suzanne concentrates on first-party property claims, third-party liability claims and uninsured/underinsured motorist claims. Early in her career, Suzanne represented both claimants and insureds and she credits the insights gained from understanding opposing positions with strengthening her ability to advocate for her clients. Suzanne’s engagement with the insurance industry extends beyond representing her clients. She lectures regularly on insurance related topics, and has authored amicus briefs in Pennsylvania State and Federal Courts. Before joining Chartwell Law, Suzanne was Of Counsel in the Blue Bell office of a regional law firm.

Brooks R. Foland, Esq.

Brooks Foland brings over three decades of legal experience to his role as a mediator. With a background as an advocate and litigator, he has been involved in numerous mediations spanning various areas such as personal injury, product liability, professional liability and insurance coverage. Over the years, he has honed his skills through formal mediation training and collaborating with a diverse range of ADR (alternative dispute resolution) professionals. Drawing from this wealth of experience, Brooks approaches each mediation with a nuanced understanding of the most effective strategies. He has mediated approximately 75 cases across multiple domains.

Bailey A. Hentz, B.S.A.E., ACTAR

Bailey earned her bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from Penn State University in 2021. While earning her degree, she completed Civil Engineering Internships with the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and was a member of the UAV Design Team at the University. Bailey is an accredited traffic accident reconstructionist by the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstructionists (ACTAR) and has been certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a licensed Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) remote pilot. Bailey completed continuing education courses at Northwestern University including Traffic Crash Investigation, Vehicle Dynamics, and Traffic Crash Reconstruction throughout the winter of 2021 and 2022, and has completed training with Ruth Consulting for Event Data Recorder (EDR) use in crash reconstruction. Bailey is a member of the National Association of Professional Accident Reconstruction Specialists (NAPARS) and Society of Women Engineers (SWE). At DJS, she is responsible for investigating, analyzing, and reconstructing vehicular collisions, including those involving pedestrians, bicycles, motorcycles, passenger vehicles, and commercial vehicles.

Arthur S. Novello, Esq.

Mr. Novello is a partner in the law firm of Dashevsky, Horwitz, Kuhn, Novello and Shorr, P.C., which maintains offices in both Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Haddonfield, New Jersey. He is admitted into practice and has tried numerous cases in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and State of New Jersey. Mr. Novello is a graduate of Temple University (BBA) and the Widener University School of Law (JD) Mr. Novello is a past member of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Board of Directors. Mr. Novello is a former Senior Hearing Committee Member on behalf of the Disciplinary Board of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He has served as a Judge Pro Tempore for the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas since the inception of the program and is frequently asked to serve as a neutral arbitrator and mediator. He is a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution, Arbitration and Senior Attorney Committees of the Philadelphia Bar Association. He has served as President of the Girard Estate Area Residents Civic Association and is currently on the Board of Directors for the Packer Park Civic Association, Sports Complex Special Services District and the Widener University School of Law. Mr. Novello has made numerous television appearances as a legal consultant. He has lectured on numerous occasions to the judiciary and members of both the medical and legal communities on substantive and ethical issues. Mr. Novello lectures in the Temple University Law School LLM program. Mr. Novello has repeatedly been designated a “Super Lawyer” and awarded the highest rating by his peers and judges, including an “AV” rating in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Mr. Novello has repeatedly been designated to be in the Top One Percent of the lawyers in the United States.
