Course Policies & Procedures
Preregistration is encouraged; registration at the door will be permitted only as space allows.
Please note: we cannot always guarantee books for walk-in registrants. Those intending to register at the door should telephone PBI at (800) 932-4637 to confirm that there have been no changes in location, date, or time.
PBI is “going green” and no longer sends a printed registration confirmation. However, time permitting, confirmation will be e-mailed to you in advance of the course. Presenting a copy at the door will expedite your check-in on the day of the course.
If you cancel your registration, you must notify PBI by email, mail, or FAX (717-796-2348) no later than 2 working days prior to the course presentation date for the appropriate site, in order to receive a refund for cancellation (less a $25 administrative fee). If you do not attend the course and did not notify PBI 2 days in advance, you will receive the course materials in full consideration of tuition paid.
PBI occasionally (though rarely) cancels programs. We make every effort to contact registrants to inform them of such cancellations. To check if a course has been cancelled, find your course in our catalog. If the course has been cancelled, it will be indicated on the course page.

About Courses NOT in Our Conference Centers
When we decide to cancel a course in our own conference center in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, or Mechanicsburg, the cancellation will be reflected immediately in our catalog. When a third-party site decides to close its facility due to inclement weather, the cancellation will be reflected as soon as we learn of it.
During bad weather, if you plan to attend a program at one of these sites (e.g., a local bar association, a community college, an agricultural extension service), contact the site or check local news services to find out whether the facility is closed.

Registration Transfer Policy
Requests for transfers will be honored if they are received by mail or fax by the date of the course presentation from which you wish to be transferred.
NOTE: We cannot transfer registrations for walk-in seminars to live webcasts. If you have registered for a walk-in seminar that is also being offered as a live webcast, and would like to participate in the webcast instead of the walk-in seminar:
- go to the webcasts section of our online campus and register for the webcast (all webcast registrations are by credit card);
- then contact customer service for a refund of your walk-in registration.

Handicapped access at CLE Conference Center, Philadelphia
Our facility in Philadelphia, the Continuing Legal Education Conference Center, is accessible to the handicapped. The center is on the 10th floor of the Wanamaker Building, between 13th and Juniper streets on Market St. The building lobby on Juniper Street has an automatic door on the left side. Once inside, facing the entrance to Macy’s, there is an elevator to the far left of the lobby, which goes down to the parking garage and up to the lobby. Take the elevator up one level and then cross back over (south) to the other wing of the mezzanine lobby to get to the elevator bank that takes you to the 10th floor. The Wanamaker Building’s restrooms are also handicapped-accessible.
Accreditation (Mandatory CLE Credits)
PBI is approved by the PA Supreme Court Continuing Legal Education Board as an accredited CLE provider. Each program has been approved by the PA Continuing Legal Education Board for the number of CLE credits indicated. PBI is also an accredited sponsor of the mandatory CLE in other states; for more information, visit our Accreditation page.
Security NOTE for those attending courses at our Philadelphia & Pittsburgh Conference Centers
Due to enhanced security measures at the Wanamaker Building in Philadelphia and the Heinz 57 Center in Pittsburgh, patrons must show a photo ID and/or attorney ID card to gain admittance beyond the building lobby. Those taking CLE will be welcomed by PBI staff in the lobby, and will receive a ticket that will allow them admittance to the Education Center, where they will receive their course materials. Patience and cooperation during this process is appreciated.
PBI reserves the right to substitute speakers at all programs.
Order & Delivery
Allow 10 days for receipt of books in stock (all books offered in our web catalog are in stock). Allow 4-6 weeks for receipt of audio CDs/CD book sets.
To order books and recordings of upcoming programs (not yet available in our online catalog), contact customer service. Allow two weeks after the first course presentation for the shipment of books, and 4 to 6 weeks for shipment of audio CD and book/CD sets.
Book/E-doc Return Policy
A ten-day return privilege applies to all book orders, less an $8.00 handling fee. The return privilege does not apply to DVDs or audio CDs; however, we will be happy to replace defective products at no cost to the customer.
E-doc purchases are final. E-docs may not be returned.
- To ensure proper credit for products returned to PBI:
- Return the product via a traceable method.
- Return the product specifically to someone’s attention.
Note the name of the PBI employee you spoke to and the date of the conversation (or include copies of the email messages if you corresponded by email).
Automatic Update Service Policy
Many titles from our PBI Press imprint come with our automatic update service. PBI will publish supplements and new editions as appropriate to keep the book up to date. Everyone who purchases the book will receive each update at a reduced price with an invoice and an option to return it with no further obligation.
