Overview
This course offers a basic introduction to critical challenges that legal professionals encounter today. It comprises two main focus areas:
- Accessibility and Disability Issues: The course explores the various barriers that lawyers with disabilities may face and discusses strategies to improve accessibility within the legal profession.
- Generative Artificial Intelligence and Ethics: Participants will delve into the implications of using generative AI in legal practice, including ethical considerations and potential impacts on the profession.
Additionally, the course includes an in-depth analysis of the latest Ethics Opinion from the Pennsylvania Bar Association, which provides guidance on the ethical use of AI by lawyers.By the end of the program, attendees will have gained valuable insights into these emerging areas and be better equipped to navigate the evolving landscape of legal ethics and technology.

Daniel J. Siegel, Esq.
Attorney Daniel J. Siegel is a nationally recognized authority on legal ethics, technology, data protection, cybersecurity, civil litigation, workers’ compensation, and law-practice workflow management. He is the principal of both the Law Offices of Daniel J. Siegel, LLC and Integrated Technology Services, LLC, where he addresses the complex legal, ethical, and operational issues that frequently challenge lawyers and law firms. Dan’s practice is multifaceted. He defends attorneys in disciplinary matters, provides professional responsibility and ethics counsel, and serves as appellate counsel in high-stakes matters. He also represents individuals in estate planning, workers’ compensation, and personal injury cases, bringing a deep understanding of both trial and appellate advocacy. A leader in techno-ethics, Dan advises solo, small, and mid-sized law firms on the ethical and practical implications of technology, including cybersecurity, data protection, and the responsible use of emerging tools such as artificial intelligence. He also helps firms and businesses improve efficiency through workflow optimization and paperless office systems. Dan is the author of 16 books, a legal columnist, and a frequent national speaker on ethics, technology, and law practice management. He served as Chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Committee on Legal Ethics and Professional Responsibility from 2019 to 2025 and as Co-Chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Technology Committee from 2023 to 2025. He is currently Past-Chair of the American Bar Association’s Law Practice Division. Paul D. Edger, Esq.
Mr. Edger is a Senior Deputy Attorney General in Charge of the Harrisburg region of the Bureau of Consumer Protection with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General. Additionally, Mr. Edger also serves as an Instructor of the Commonwealth Investigator Training Program, conducted at the PSP Academy in Hershey, PA. Prior to joining the Attorney General, Mr. Edger was a Regional Managing Attorney at MidPenn Legal Services, a non-profit legal aid firm for over seven years, representing clients and overseeing all services in Adams, Cumberland, Franklin and Fulton counties. Mr. Edger was also an Adjunct Professor at Widener University Commonwealth Law School, teaching in the areas of family law, property, employment law, and trial skills. Mr. Edger has been recognized for his accomplishment by receiving numerous awards throughout his career. In 2026 he was awarded the Frances H. Del Duca President’s Award by the Cumberland County Bar Association for his numerous leadership positions and service to the state and county bar, and working first-hand to better the local community. In 2025 he was awarded the Verdina Showell Award for his work as one of the three Wills for Heroes Statewide Directors for Pennsylvania, and in 2024 he was awarded the C. Dale McClain Quality of Life Award from the Pennsylvania Bar Association for his leadership in providing volunteer opportunities to assist other individuals, providing others with a sustainable quality of life. He also received a Special Achievement Award in 2024 from PBA President Michael McDonald for his service as a co-Vice-Chair on the newly formed Technology Committee. In 2023 Mr. Edger received the Michael K. Smith Excellence Award from the PBA Young Lawyers Division for service to youth. Mr. Edger currently serves as the Zone 3 Governor of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, representing lawyers in nine counties throughout Central PA. He previously served as the Chair of the PBA Young Lawyers Division from 2021-22, and served a three-year term on the PBA Board of Governors. Mr. Edger is also one of three Statewide Directors of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Wills for Heroes program. Mr. Edger is currently President of the Cumberland County Bar Association. Mr. Edger graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Elizabethtown College and earned his Juris Doctor from the Widener University School of Law. He lives in Carlisle with his wife Katelynn and his sons Connor and Aiden.
Sharon R. Lopez, Esq.
Sharon R. López is a plaintiff’s employment and civil rights attorney. She represents plaintiffs and employees seeking justice in the workplace. She fights for those who are discriminated against in the workplace and those denied their federal and state employment protections and rights. She is the managing partner of her woman owned firm, Triquetra Law ®. The award-winning firm is located in Lancaster, PA. López started her legal career at Central Penn Legal Services (CPLS), now known as MidPenn Legal Services. Her work at CPLS gave her a deep understanding of the need for free and pro bono legal services. López worked at CPLS for nine years. Subsequently she worked at the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence (PCADV), a statewide non-profit organization that advocates for safety, autonomy, and restoration of domestic violence survivors. In 2006 López left PCADV to form a private law firm dedicated to advancing civil rights, Triquetra Law ®. In 2007-08, she spearheaded a diversity pipeline project that placed minority first-year law students in local law firms for the summer. López continues her efforts to mentor and sponsor lawyers who ask for her help, no matter their practice area, or geographic location. López believes being a lawyer means working for social justice and being a voice for positive change in society. This motivates her to not only practice civil rights employment law, but to serve as a statewide leader in the legal profession. Some of her statewide service include serving on the Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) Judicial Evaluation Commission, which reviews and rates state appellate court candidates. Governor Wolf also appointed López to serve for one year on the Governor’s Judicial Merit Selection Commission. López became the 123rd President in 2017-2018 for the Pennsylvania Bar Association. She was the fourth woman, the first Latina, the first mother, the first ex legal services attorney, and the first Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Intern to service as President of the largest voluntary state bar association in Pennsylvania. López served on the Board of Philadelphia Lawyers for Social Equity, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing advice and representation to low-income individuals who have criminal records that hold them back from achieving their social and career goals. She presently serves on the Board of Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers, and the Board of the Interest on Lawyer’s Trust Account.

Jeffrey Rodgers
Jeff Rodgers is the manager of digital accessibility at Accessiblü, an agency that specializes in helping companies enhance the accessibility of their digital assets. He leads the accessibility team and oversees accessibility audits, testing, and training for international and U.S. clients. Jeff’s passion for accessibility has led to positions as a digital accessibility specialist and lead instructional designer in corporate and higher education settings. He holds degrees from Kent State and Indiana University, as well as a M.S.Ed. in learning design and technology from Purdue University. Jeff is a member of the International Association of Accessibility Professionals.
Jennifer L. Ellis, JD
Jennifer Ellis is an attorney licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and the principal of Jennifer Ellis, JD, LLC, a law practice management and technology consulting firm. Her legal practice focuses on ethics, and her consulting work assists lawyers and legal organizations with technology selection, implementation, and risk management, including cybersecurity and the practical use of artificial intelligence in legal practice.
Jennifer has extensive experience in legal education and professional development and has worked closely with bar associations and continuing legal education providers on the development and presentation of programs for lawyers at all stages of practice. She regularly speaks and writes on legal ethics, law practice management, and emerging technology issues, with an emphasis on helping lawyers evaluate new tools realistically and responsibly. Samuel G. Encarnacion, Esq.
Samuel G. Encarnacion is a personal injury attorney based out of the Lancaster, Pennsylvania office of Haggerty & Silverman. Sam is bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish. He is available to help Spanish-speaking clients with their legal matters. Sam was born in the Dominican Republic, grew up in Puerto Rico, and moved to Texas in 1980. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1988 and received his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law at Austin in 1991. Sam is dedicated to helping people. He serves on the Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) Board of Governors, representing minority lawyers. Sam also serves on the Lancaster Bar Association (LBA) Diversity Committee. In May 2016, Sam began a three-year term as an at-large minority governor on the PBA Board of Governors. Sam served on the Board of Directors of the Lancaster Bar Association for 3 years. Sam is also a board member of the PBA Insurance Fund and Trust and served as its Chair for two years. Sam helped review the PBA’s Professional Liability Program and the insurance offerings made available to the association’s members. In 2013, because of his extensive work as Chair of the Trust, Sam received the PBA Special Achievement Award. Sam also has experience with criminal law. Since 1993, Sam has been with the Lancaster County Public Defender’s Office where he represents clients in criminal cases. He is also an instructor at the Pennsylvania Public Defender Trial Skills Training Program held annually at Penn State Dickinson School of Law. Sam has an AVVO lawyer rating of 10 out of 10. In 2008, Sam was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. From 2009 until 2015, Sam was a member of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania Committee on Rules of Evidence. He served as chair of the committee from 2014 to 2015.
