About

Nonprofits depend on lawyers to help them navigate an increasingly complex legal and regulatory landscape. This user-friendly and hands-on learning experience will help equip you—as a nonprofit lawyer, board member, or both—to advise nonprofits on their governance and compliance responsibilities.

The course includes a practical overview of key governance and compliance issues and an interactive walk-through of helpful checklists and critical regulatory forms.  Together, we’ll cover:

  • The Legal Compliance Checklist—a how-to guide that covers the broad spectrum of legal issues faced by nonprofits
  • The Fundraising Solicitation and Acknowledgment Checklist—an essential overview of required federal and state disclosures
  • The Annual Checklist—a practical tool to help nonprofit directors and officers stay current on, and fulfill, their fiduciary responsibilities
  • The Form 990 Public Relations Checklist—a source of helpful tips for answering the IRS’s governance and compliance questions while promoting the nonprofit’s mission to the public

The program will also provide an opportunity to share best practices with professional colleagues.

Recorded in July 2021.
