All attendees will receive the course materials as a digital book. A printed copy of the course book is available, at a discount to attendees, for $40. Additional copies are available at full price. Faculty

Ann Funge Esq.

Ms. Funge is the
principal of Funge Family Law, LLC, with offices in Philadelphia and Radnor.
She has practiced exclusively family law since graduating from law school in
1993. Ann was the 2018 Chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s
Family Law Section and is a long-time member of its Executive and Custody
Committees. Ann has chaired various committees in the Montgomery and
Allegheny County Bar Family Law Sections, including Case Law Updates and
Programming. She also is a three-time Council Member for the PBA’s Family Law
Section and served on its Alimony Task Force. Ann has served as President of
both the Doris Jonas Freed Matrimonial Inn of Court, based in suburban
Philadelphia, and the Pittsburgh Matrimonial Inn of Court. She is a current
member of Philadelphia’s Nicholas Cipriani Inn of Court. Ann has been a
member of the PBA’s Legal Ethics and Professional Responsibility Committee
since 1997. In that capacity, she periodically provides informal ethics
opinions on family law issues on behalf of the Committee. She also is a
member of the informal “Family Lawyer / Psychologist Group” based in Ardmore.
Ann holds a B.S. in Commerce from the University of Virginia (1987) and a JD
from the University of Pittsburgh (1993).

Julia Rater Esq.

Ms. Rater is a shareholder with the law firm of McQuaide Blasko, Inc., with offices in State College, Hollidaysburg and Hershey. She focuses her practice on all areas of family law, including divorce, equitable distribution, custody and support. Ms. Rater also practices in the areas of general civil litigation, real estate and landlord-tenant law. She is trained in the practice of collaborative law and mediation, and serves as secretary of the Central Counties Collaborative Law Community. She is a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts. Ms. Rater serves on the Board of Governors of the Centre County Bar Association and as chairperson of the Association’s Bench-Bar Committee. She is a member of the Family Law Section and Civil Litigation Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. Ms. Rater is a frequent lecturer on family law topics for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute. She is co-author of Custody Law & Practice in Pennsylvania, published by the Pennsylvania Bar Institute. Ms. Rater serves on the Board of Directors of Strawberry Fields, Inc., a nonprofit entity that provides community-based and residential services to children and adults with disabilities. She also serves on the Board of Directors of Tides, a peer support program for children, teens and their families who have experienced the death of a loved one. In 2012, Ms. Rater joined with a group of fellow community leaders to form the Children’s Advocacy Center of Centre County, a center designed to provide a safe and secure environment in which children from central Pennsylvania can report abuse or neglect and begin their journey toward healing. Ms. Rater continues to serve as a member of its advisory committee. Ms. Rater was named to Pennsylvania Business Central’s Top 100 People for 2020. She is a member of the 2005 class of Leadership Centre County, and received the award for Outstanding Community Service by an attorney from the State College Area Jaycees. Ms. Rater received her B.A. with highest honors from St. Vincent College in 1992, and her J.D. from the Dickinson School of Law of the Pennsylvania State University in 1995. 

Dawn Gull Esq.

Dawn K. Gull is a solo practitioner with offices in Wexford.  She is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association’s Family Law Section where she has served Chair, and also co-chaired the Children’s Issues Sub-Committee for approximately 11 years.  She is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association’s Professional Ethics Committee, where she previously served as Chair.  She is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Family Law Section, and has previously served on council.  Ms. Gull is a past member and past President of the Pittsburgh chapter of the Matrimonial Inns of Court.   Ms. Gull is a Patron Fellow of the Allegheny County Bar Foundation.  She was named in 2010-2022 as a Super Lawyer by the Philadelphia Magazine, and named to the Top 50 Attorneys in Pittsburgh by that publication in 2021 and 2022.  Ms. Gull earned her B.S. from Evangel University, Springfield, Missouri, and her JD from Duquesne University School of Law.   

Michelle Tokarsky Esq.

Michelle A. Tokarsky, Esq. (PBA Family Law Section Summer Meeting – July 2015) Ms. Tokarsky is one of the founders and present Managing Member of Silverman, Tokarsky, Forman & Hill, LLC, a regional firm with offices located in Johnstown, Somerset and Windber. The firm serves Cambria, Bedford, Blair, Indiana and Somerset counties with a broad-based practice in litigation, estate planning and administration. Ms. Tokarsky has practiced in the areas of municipal and zoning law, commercial transactions and environmental issues. She currently focuses on complex family law litigation, estate planning and administration and assisting non-profit organizations. Prior to attending law school, Ms. Tokarsky was a licensed insurance agent and worked in financial planning. She received her B.S. in Public Service from Pennsylvania State University and her J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. Ms. Tokarsky is trained in mediation and collaborative practice. She served as a Standing Master to the Court of Common Pleas of Cambria County, hearing support, equitable distribution and custody cases.

Lauren Sorrentino Esq.

Ms. Sorrentino is a shareholder and Chair of Fitzpatrick Lentz & Bubba’s Family Law Practice. She earned her J.D. in 2002 from Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California at Berkeley. She completed her B.A. at Columbia University. She focuses her practice on matrimonial and family law, including divorce, equitable distribution, alimony, prenuptial and property settlement agreements, child support, child custody, and protection from abuse. Ms. Sorrentino is listed in Best Lawyers in America in the Family Law section, and is also listed in Super Lawyers. Ms. Sorrentino is actively involved in the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Family Law Section and served as a Council Member of the Section. She currently co-chairs the Rules Committee. Ms. Sorrentino is actively involved in the Family Law Committees of the Bar Association of Lehigh County and the Northampton County Bar Association. She also serves as a Team Captain for the Judge Donald E. Wieand Barristers Inn. She has published articles on a variety of family law topics and has served as a panelist at family law educational programs. Ms. Sorrentino is a member of the Board of Directors of Community Services for Children.
