Our team will provide a presentation on hearing strategies and pitfalls, by performing a “mock” zoning hearing consisting of a zoning hearing board solicitor, the applicants, and objecting party counsel.

John McShea IV, Esq.

Mr. McShea is an associate at Eastburn and Gray, PC where he practices in the areas of litigation, real estate, land use and zoning, and municipal law. Mr. McShea represents clients before zoning hearing boards and municipal governing bodies in land development matters and zoning appeals, including conditional use and variance applications and substantive and procedural validity challenges. Prior to joining Eastburn and Gray, Mr. McShea was an associate in the Philadelphia office of a large, full service law firm. During that time, he represented corporate policyholders in complex insurance coverage disputes involving a variety of policy types and coverage issues. He earned his B.A. from the University of Scranton and his J.D. from the Temple University Beasley School of Law.

Marc Jonas Esq.

Among his notable accomplishments, Mr. Jonas was named by Best Lawyers in America® the 2023 and 2018 Lawyer of the Year for Litigation in Land Use and Zoning Law in the Philadelphia Area. This follows his selection as 2017 Lawyer of the Year for Land Use and Zoning Law in the Philadelphia Area, by Best Lawyers in America®. Mr. Jonas is a shareholder and co-chair of the land use and zoning practice group at Eastburn and Gray, PC. He has extensive experience in real estate, land use, municipal law, and zoning matters, representing individuals, businesses, institutions, non-profit organizations, and municipal boards. He has appeared as counsel in Pennsylvania state and federal courts in matters involving land use and real estate law. His diverse practice has included the representation of developers of residential, commercial, institutional, and religious land uses. He serves as solicitor to the zoning hearing boards of Towamencin, Lower Salford, and Upper Merion townships and recently as special counsel to Straban Township in Adams County. Mr. Jonas was formerly a member and board chairman of the Montgomery County Planning Commission. He received his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania and his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.  Following his service in the United States Air Force Reserve, he was law clerk to the Honorable James S. Bowman, President Judge of the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania. In addition to his recognition by U.S News/Best Lawyers, he has been named a leader in Real Estate/Land Use Law by Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, and his peers have recognized him as a Pennsylvania “Super Lawyer. Michael Peters Esq.

Michael E. Peters focuses his practice on municipal law, land use law, and litigation.  Mr. Peters has represented clients before zoning hearing boards and municipal governing bodies in land development matters and zoning appeals, including conditional use and variance applications and substantive and procedural validity challenges. He has represented municipalities in zoning matters, ordinance drafting, and responding to right-to-know requests. Mr. Peters has litigated cases on behalf of private and municipal clients before courts of common pleas, as well as the Commonwealth Court and the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, in matters of land development, zoning, municipal law, and statutory interpretation.  Mr. Peters serves as the Solicitor of Conshohocken, New Britain and East Greenville Boroughs.
