Faculty

Prof. Bruce Grohsgal

Bruce Grohsgal is the Helen S. Balick Professor in Business Bankruptcy Law at Delaware Law School, Widener University, and teaches bankruptcy, business organizations, secured transactions, contracts and other commercial law courses. He joined the faculty from Pachulski Stang Ziehl & Jones in Wilmington, Delaware, where he practiced business bankruptcy law.His recent articles include: From Referees to Robes: The Establishment of the U.S. Bankruptcy Bench and the Battle for Article III Status as Told in the Bankruptcy Oral Histories, 31 No. J. Bankr. L. & Prac. NL Art. 4 (2023); The Alteration of Ex Ante Agreements by the Bankruptcy Code, 95 Am. Bankr. L. J. 713 (2021); The Long Strange Trip to a Certainty of Hopelessness: The Legislative and Political History of the Nondischarge of Student Loans in Bankruptcy, 95 Am. Bankr. L. J. 443(2021); and The Argument for a Federal Rule of Decision for a Bankruptcy Court’s Recharacterization of a Claim as Equity, 94 Am. Bankr. L. J. 681 (2020).He is Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Norton Annual Survey of Bankruptcy Law, Director of the Institute of Delaware Corporate and Business Law, and the Reporter for the E.D. Pa. Standing Local Bankruptcy Rules Committee.

Mitchell Prince, Esq.

Mitchell J. Prince, Esquire is an associate attorney with John L. McClain & Associates, P.C., in Philadelphia, PA. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, and earned his J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law. Mr. Prince is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, and before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. For over three decades, he has represented consumer debtors in all aspects of Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy proceedings, including litigation of contested matters, adversary proceedings, and post-confirmation motions. Such representation has involved a multitude of issues before the Bankruptcy Court, with one matter reaching the United States District Court, Eastern District of Pennsylvania. He served as a judicial law clerk to Justice James T. McDermott of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and has worked as a legal digest editor. Mr. Prince is a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, the Eastern District of Pennsylvania Bankruptcy Conference, and several state and local bar associations. He has served as a panelist for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania Bankruptcy Conference.

Jack Small, Esq.

Jack Small focuses his practice on restructuring and creditors’ rights. He developed an interest in bankruptcy law while serving as a judicial extern to the Honorable Eric L. Frank for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Upon graduation from law school, he received a Business Law Certificate in recognition of his concentration in corporate law. Previously, Jack worked in development for a nonprofit and served as an AmeriCorps VISTA.
