Overview

What Happens to Creditors When Someone Dies?

When a Pennsylvania resident dies, the estate must address more than the distribution of assets. Before beneficiaries receive their inheritance, the estate must identify, evaluate, and resolve the decedent’s outstanding debts and creditor claims.

Join our experienced panel for a practical look at how creditor claims are handled during estate administration. Learn how to navigate the rules governing the payment and priority of claims—and avoid common pitfalls along the way.

This program will cover:

  • The order in which creditor claims are paid
  • The rules governing priority among competing claims
  • Exceptions to the general priority rules
  • Practical considerations for personal representatives and estate counsel
