Overview
This program provides a comprehensive look at the legal concepts, documentation, and processes involved in holding and transferring title to real property.
Beginning with the fundamental ways in which ownership can be structured—such as individual, joint, and entireties ownership—it explores the types of estates in land, from fee simple absolute to life estates, and examines the structure and key provisions of the common law deed. The program then broadens to address other deed forms, including quitclaim, trustee, and executor deeds, and the legal steps that follow their execution.
Participants will gain a practical understanding of deed delivery requirements, the recording process and its role in establishing priority, and the circumstances under which deeds may be set aside or reformed. Through this integrated approach, attendees will leave with a clear framework for both protecting and challenging real property interests.
Included in your tuition is a copy of Fagnilli and Kosir on Deeds: Fundamentals of Deed Drafting and Recording, 4th Edition from PBI Press. Attendees will receive a digital copy via electronic download.
Recorded in October 2025.
