Overview
Learn the fundamentals of balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements with our popular presenter, Jospeh Novello, MBA, CPA. He will walk you through the three most important financial statements that in-house counsel needs to know to serve their employers. You’ll gain a basic understanding of important finance and accounting concepts like goodwill, equity, depreciation, amortization and what the various levels of audit assurance mean. You gain the ability to formulate successful inquiries and communicate effectively with business and financial colleagues, both within and outside the legal profession. Mr. Novello will also explain the different types of financial fraud to you, alert you to fraud warning signs, and explain how to combat fraud at your company.

Joseph Novello, CPA, MBA
Joe is a Certified Public Accountant who began his career at Ernst & Young, Certified Public Accountants, in New York. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and earned an MBA in Finance from New York University. Joe has experience with both domestic and foreign Fortune companies where he held positions including Controller, CFO, Director of Planning and Analysis and Director of Sales Operations. Since founding the Financial Training Organization in 2010, Joe has presented his finance programs to thousands of lawyers at bar association and CLE providers throughout the United States and across Canada. Joe enjoys giving the seminars and encourages participant questions. He brings his real-world experience to the seminar with his candid opinion on key issues and is consistently rated as exceeding expectations. His goal is to share an easy-to-understand approach that will make dealing with a client’s financial matters more manageable.
