Overview

Learn why Phil Bogdanoff’s Lincoln Lawyer Ethics Series is on PBI’s Top Ten Most-Watched List: Ethics, Edge, and Courtroom Consequences.

Phil Bogdanoff brings CLE to life with a style that is anything but theoretical. Known for weaving real-world dilemmas with scenes from The Lincoln Lawyer, he challenges attorneys to think beyond black-letter rules and into the gray areas where practice actually happens. His sessions are fast-paced, practical, and consistently among PBI’s most-watched—because he doesn’t just talk strategy, he shows you how it plays out when the stakes are real.

When the Defense Attorney Becomes the Defendant

The stakes have never been higher for Mickey Haller. In Season Four of The Lincoln Lawyer, the defense attorney finds himself on the other side of the courtroom when he is charged with the murder of former client Sam Scales. The evidence is stacked against him: Scales owed Haller money, his body was discovered in the trunk of Haller’s iconic Lincoln, and a bullet tied to the murder weapon was found in Haller’s garage.

From Streaming Drama to Real-World Criminal Law

Using this gripping storyline as a backdrop, this engaging two-hour program dives into the real-world legal issues raised throughout the series. Bogdanoff explores constitutional and criminal law topics including warrantless vehicle stops and searches, speedy trial rights, impeachment strategies, proving motive, and the effective use of expert witnesses at trial.

Navigating the Ethical Challenges

The second hour shifts to the ethical dilemmas at the center of the case, examining attorney-client privilege, subpoenaing lawyers before a grand jury, prosecutorial obligations regarding probable cause and discovery, and the kinds of unprofessional courtroom conduct that can lead to disciplinary sanctions.

Why Attorneys Love This Program Series

Praised by attorneys as “informative, entertaining, relatable,” and an “excellent program—interesting, engaging, and practical,” this presentation blends pop culture and legal education into a fast-paced program you won’t want to miss.
