Overview

We live in a society that increasingly praises youthfulness, while devaluing aging. Despite the fact that aging is a natural and inevitable part of life, it seems that everywhere we look nowadays we are bombarded with advertisements that promote anti-aging.

Mindfulness is about paying attention to, and seeing clearly, what is happening in the present moment.

Mindfulness can help us to notice the ways in which society’s negative perceptions of aging can affect how we feel and what we tell ourselves. When we are aware of the impact that society can have on us, both in body and mind, then we can make more skillful choices that support us and allow us to open more fully to each unfolding moment with a sense of curiosity and non-judgment.

Meet Courtney Schulnick, mindfulness instructor and litigator.

In an effort to better manage her own anxiety and the stressors associated with litigation and life in general, Courtney Schulnick enrolled in a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Program. She immediately noticed the ways in which the practice of mindfulness increasingly enriched her life on both a professional and personal level. She now shares her passion by teaching others (you!) how to live more fully in the present moment and achieve greater balance, vitality, and health.

During this one-hour webcast, you will learn what mindfulness is, its benefits, and the ways in which mindfulness meditation can allow you to explore your feelings and beliefs about aging with deeper kindness, compassion, and patience.

Courtney uses:

  • Formal guided meditation
  • Contemplations to reflect upon
  • group dialogue
  • Informal practices

With these tools, she teaches you how to cultivate mindfulness in your daily life. At the end of the program, she shares resources and materials to support your mindfulness practice.

Join your colleagues in a journey to become more mindful about aging and create a life that doesn't wane as the years go by.

Recorded in February 2024.

Courtney B. Schulnick, Esq.

Courtney Schulnick, J.D., is a mindfulness instructor and litigator. In an effort to better manage her anxiety and the stressors associated with litigation and life in general, she enrolled in the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Program offered at the Center for Mindfulness at Jefferson in Philadelphia, PA. Courtney noticed the ways in which the practice of mindfulness increasingly enriched her life on both a professional and personal level. A desire to deepen her own practice and share the gift of mindfulness with others encouraged her to complete the mindfulness teaching program at Jefferson, where she now teaches the MBSR program and graduate-level courses. She pursues her passion of helping people by teaching mindfulness so that they, too, can live more fully in the present moment and achieve greater balance, vitality and health. Perhaps her greatest teachers of all time are her husband, and three young boys, with whom she enjoys spending time and exploring their new hometown of Haddonfield, New Jersey.
