Overview

What Lawyers Need to Know—and Do
Lawyers are told constantly that generative artificial intelligence will change their practice and are given very little instruction in how to actually use it. This full day program addresses both halves of that problem.

Less Talk. More Doing.
The morning is practical. Faculty demonstrate the work rather than describe it, including research and drafting workflows, prompting, document management, and the ways these tools fail. Two segments cover what has come to be called vibe coding, which is building working software by describing in plain English what you want it to do, with no programming background required.

The Fine Print of AI
The afternoon turns to the law and the ethics. Faculty address bias and the Rules of Professional Conduct, discovery and privilege in AI prompts, unauthorized practice and AI generated pro se filings, courts requiring lawyers to certify their use of AI, AI in hiring and workplace privacy, contracting for AI tools and drafting an acceptable use policy, and how law schools are training the lawyers who will arrive at your firm next year. No technical background is assumed at any point in the day.

Presented in cooperation with the PBA Technology Committee.
