Overview
Over the last forty years, computer technology has quickly and comprehensively changed the medium through which most attorneys read. Today, most law offices rely on remote computing access, digital document storage systems, and digital communication. Within the judiciary, e-filing is required in all federal courts and is an option in Pennsylvania state courts. Attorneys and judges are reading more and more material from screens—and only from screens.
In this session, we will examine the shift from print to digital texts in practice and its impact on critical reading. We will explore why it may be more challenging to read legal materials effectively and efficiently when they are in a digital format. Finally, we will provide specific strategies for enhancing your e-reading skills that you can quickly incorporate into your law practice.
Recorded in January 2025.
