Overview

As every lawyer knows, technology advances quite a bit faster than the law changes. Due to the rapid rate of change, it’s difficult to keep up with legal tech on top of the responsibilities required to run a successful practice. In this seminar, we’ll cover many topics that will help you be aware of the technologies that should be on your radar, how to take better advantage of your current tech stack, and how the Rules of Professional Conduct impact your tech and security decisions. Specifically, we’ll tackle the following topics:

1. Key technologies and services for law offices that every lawyer should be aware of.

2. How to prioritize your technology expenditures on the hierarchy of needs for a law office.

3. The decision criteria you should use and the functionality you should expect from key applications like case/matter management software, legal accounting software, document automation platforms, and document/email management solutions.

4. Artificial Intelligence – what should you be doing with it now and how it’ll impact your practice in the future.

5. How to make better use of what you already have rather than buying something new (legal tech is almost always underutilized).

6. The ethical issues surrounding the use of technology, protecting client data in the digital age, and simple, inexpensive security measures every law office should take.
