Salene Mazur Kraemer, Esq.
Salene Kraemer is the founding principal of MAZURKRAEMER, an entrepreneurial business law and consulting firm. With offices in New York, NY, Weirton, West Virginia, and Pittsburgh, PA, MAZURKRAEMER counsels entrepreneurs and small to middle market companies at every stage of the business cycle in a broad range of business transactions, particularly reorganization and general business litigation. Salene concentrates her personal practice on Chapter 11 commercial bankruptcy law, along with general business transaction work. She represents businesses and individuals in courts all over the country. Salene earned J.D. from Villanova University School of Law and M.B.A. from West Virginia University. Salene is Board-Certified in Business Bankruptcy by the American Board of Certification. An active business blogger and former turnaround management consultant, she earned a Certified Turnaround Analyst designation from the Turnaround Management Association. Salene lives in Mt. Lebanon, PA (Pittsburgh), with her 3 kids, ages 16, 15, and 7! She loves to do triathlons and travel and is passionate about empowering business owners.
Hon. Derek J. Baker
Judge Derek J. Baker was appointed as a Bankruptcy Judge for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania on February 19, 2025. He serves in the Philadelphia Division. Prior to his appointment, Judge Baker maintained a private practice with Reed Smith LLP in the firm’s Philadelphia and Princeton offices. Judge Baker’s practice focused on Commercial Restructuring and Bankruptcy issues throughout the country representing all major players in workouts, restructurings, foreclosures and bankruptcies. Judge Baker’s primary practice involved first chair trial and appellate work in state and federal courts (including bankruptcy courts) and arbitration panels, addressing varying restructuring issues ranging from enforcement of creditor remedies to contested confirmation hearings on plans of reorganization. Judge Baker is a former chair of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania Bankruptcy Conference. He served on various local rules committees and is a Certified Mediator, have served on the Bankr. E.D. Pa. Mediation Panel. In March 2025, Judge Baker was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy. Judge Baker obtained his B.A. with University Honors from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania (summa cum laude) and a J.D. from the University of Dayton School of Law (magna cum laude), where he was a member of the Law Review. Judge Baker has also served as a Director, President and immediate Past President of the Pennsylvania Assistive Technology Foundation, a statewide non-profit whose mission is focused on financial education and providing credit access for people with disabilities to acquire assistive technology.
Amy E. Vulpio, Esq.
Amy is a Partner at Stradley Ronon. With experience representing both creditors and debtors, Amy offers clients a unique perspective that comes from working on behalf of both parties, allowing for innovative solutions for their negotiation and litigation needs. She counsels financial institutions, secured lenders, insurance companies, lessors, trade creditors, and other businesses and individuals in financial restructuring, bankruptcy, appellate and commercial litigation matters. Amy helps creditors mitigate their risks and maximize their recoveries when dealing with financially troubled or bankrupt companies, including confessing judgment; obtaining relief from the automatic stay; filing and litigating proofs of claim; filing and responding to motions and adversary complaints, including preference and fraudulent conveyance actions; and otherwise asserting their rights in bankruptcy court as well as in state court assignment for the benefit of creditors (ABC) and receivership matters. On behalf of debtors, she assists with facilitating out-of-court workouts, preparing bankruptcy petitions and motions, formulating plans of reorganization or liquidation, and prosecuting claims objections and preference and fraudulent conveyance actions in both traditional Chapter 11 cases and Subchapter V small-business bankruptcies. Additionally, Amy handles bankruptcy-related litigation ranging from routine to complex and contentious, as well as bankruptcy appeals, including appellate briefing and oral argument.
