Faculty

Hunter B. Schenck, Esq.

Hunter B. Schenck provides legal services to businesses and individuals in the areas of litigation and real estate. Her practice largely focuses on landlord/tenant matters including leases, evictions, ejectments, and accompanying issues. She also focuses on collections, mechanics liens, and helping home improvement contractors. In 2024, Hunter was unanimously elected to Shareholder in recognition and honor of her legal practice. Hunter has participated in multiple trials in both a solo and co-counsel capacity. She tried a week-long federal jury trial that resulted in a verdict of almost $1 million for the client. Hunter enjoys the opportunity to enter the courtroom and wants to help her clients obtain their ideal outcome for each case. Hunter was selected as a Super Lawyers “Rising Star” for her fourth consecutive year in 2024. She was elected to the Board of the York County Bar Association in 2023 and has continued as a member of the Membership, CLE, and Law Day Committees. She is also a member of the Herbert Cohen Inns of Court. She received the York County Bar Foundation Pro Bono Award in 2021. In 2020, Hunter was the Chair of the Young Lawyers Section. Hunter serves as the Pennsylvania Bar Association Young Lawyers Division Zone 3 Co-Chair and is also a member of the Legal Ethics and Professional Responsibility Committee and Technology Committee. Hunter was a member of the 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2022 Bar Stools Cast, a parody musical that serves as a fundraiser for the York County Bar Foundation and the Belmont Theatre. She is Second Vice Regent of the Colonel James Smith – Yorktown Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. Hunter joined the Board of The Grotto in 2022. Hunter is a Life Member of the Penn State Alumni Association and is a founding member of the Penn State York Women’s Philanthropic Network. She joined the Penn State Law Alumni Society Board in 2020. She completed her Juris Doctorate from the Penn State Dickinson School of Law in 2014, where she was a member of the American Association for Justice Trial Advocacy Team, Moot Court Board (Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot), Trial Advocacy Board, and Phi Delta Phi John Reed Inn (Notarius).

Paul D. Edger, Esq.

Mr. Edger is a Senior Deputy Attorney General in Charge of the Harrisburg Region of the Bureau of Consumer Protection with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General. Prior to joining the Attorney General in 2021, Mr. Edger was a Regional Managing Attorney at MidPenn Legal Services, a non-profit legal aid firm for over seven years, representing clients and overseeing all services in Adams, Cumberland, Franklin and Fulton counties. Mr. Edger is also an Adjunct Professor at Widener University Commonwealth Law School, teaching in the areas of family law, property, employment law, and trial skills. He was recently awarded the Michael K. Smith Excellence in Service Award by the Pennsylvania Bar Association Young Lawyers Division in 2023, and the Pennsylvania Bar Associations Pro Bono Award in 2022. He was named a Rising Star by Pennsylvania Super Lawyers from 2019 to 2021 in the field of “Legal Aid/Pro Bono,” a feat typically unheard of in the history of Pennsylvania Super Lawyer for that field. Mr. Edger recently completed his three-year term on the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Board of Governors, including as Chair of the Young Lawyers Division for the 2021-2022 year, He is an active member of the Cumberland County Bar Associations, where he serves as the 2nd Vice-President, and will become President of the Cumberland County Bar Association in January 2025. Additionally, Mr. Edger was appointed by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court as a Hearing Committee Member to the Pennsylvania Disciplinary Board. Mr. Edger is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Safe Harbour, a local homeless shelter located in Carlisle, and President of the Widener University Commonwealth Law School Alumni Board. Mr. Edger graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Elizabethtown College and earned his Juris Doctor from the Widener University School of Law. He lives in Carlisle with his wife Katelynn and two sons, Connor and Aiden.

Daniel J. Siegel, Esq.

Attorney Daniel J. Siegel is a nationally recognized authority on ethics, technology, data protection and business workflow management, and the principal of both the Law Offices of Daniel J. Siegel, LLC and Integrated Technology Services, LLC. Dan provides techno-ethics counsel to solo, small and mid-sized law firms on cybersecurity, technology and other related issues. His practice includes representing of attorneys in disciplinary matters; providing professional responsibility guidance to attorneys and firms; serving as appellate counsel; and representing individuals in workers’ compensation and personal injury matters. Dan also consults with law firms and businesses on workflow management, implementation of paperless offices, and other productivity matters. Attorney Siegel is a prolific speaker and author, and serves as the Chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Committee on Legal Ethics and Professional Responsibility, and Past-Chair of the American Bar Association’s Professional Development Board Chair. The author of 15 books, Dan is a columnist and frequent lecturer on a wide range of topics, including ethics, technology, substantive law, appellate law, and professional responsibility matters. Ellen Freedman, CLM

Ellen serves as the Law Practice Management Coordinator for the Pennsylvania Bar Association. In that capacity she assists PBA’s members with management issues and decisions on the business side of their practice, including areas like technology, financial management and profitability, human resources, marketing, risk management, setting up a practice and so forth. Ellen is founder and President of Freedman Consulting, which assists PA law firms with a full range of issues and projects on the business side of the practice. Ellen holds the designation of Certified Legal Manager through the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA), the credentialing body for the CLM degree. Of the 11,000+ members of the ALA, approximately 300 are certified legal managers. Ellen was one of the first 20 in the nation to have achieved this designation. She holds a Certification in Computer Programming from Maxwell Institute, and a Certification in Web Site Design and a B.A. from Temple University. Ellen was inducted as a Fellow of the College of Law Practice Management in October 2020. Membership in the College is by invitation only. Eligible nominees include those who have made significant contributions to the field of law practice management for over ten years. Since its establishment over twenty years ago, nearly 300 practitioners from 5 different countries have become Fellows of the College. Ellen managed inside law firms for twenty years. Most of that time was spent in a midsize (35+ attorney) firm environment. She launched her consulting practice in 1998 and joined the Pennsylvania Bar Association in 1999. She was a member of the Association of Legal Administrators for over 20 years and founded the Independence Chapter. She is a frequent author and speaker on law firm management issues on a national level.
