Danny Cevallos, Esq.

Danny Cevallos is an attorney and the co-founder of Cevallos & Wong, LLP, a Philadelphia-based law criminal defense and civil litigation law firm. Danny is also admitted to practice law in New York, New Jersey, the District Court of Puerto Rico, and the United States Supreme Court, along with a number of federal district courts and circuit courts of appeal. Danny practices primarily in the Philadelphia area, and also in the state and territorial courts of the United States Virgin Islands: St. Thomas, St. Croix, and St. John. He has handled a number of high profile cases in the federal, state, and territorial courts, ranging from white collar criminal matters, bribery and extortion, to first-degree murder cases. Danny is a graduate of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and Notre Dame Law School. Danny has been an adjunct professor of Health Care Law and Health Care Ethics at Drexel University’s School of Nursing since 2007. Danny is an MSNBC Legal Analyst, appearing on shows on the network to discuss legal issues in the news. Danny was formerly a Legal Analyst at CNN, HLN and TruTV, where he guest-hosted/anchored In Session on CourtTV and TruTV, and guest-hosted PrimeTime Justice on HLN. He was a regular on Erin Burnett OutFront, CNN Newsroom, CNN’s New Day, AC 360 with Anderson Cooper, and other shows on the network. He was also a columnist for CNN.com. Danny frequently makes public speaking appearances, for professional associations and events. Most recently, he hosted the opening seminar at the Bar Association’s annual conference in Atlantic City, speaking on the law in media.

Neil K. Makhija, Esq.

Neil Makhija serves as Montgomery County Commissioner and Chair of the Board of Elections. He is the first Asian American County Commissioner in Pennsylvania’s history across all 67 counties. Montgomery County is Philadelphia’s largest collar county of 865,000 people, more populous than 4 U.S. states and Washington D.C. As Montgomery County Commissioner, Neil oversees the county’s 3,000 employees and billion-dollar budget that covers human services, infrastructure, civil & criminal justice systems, roads and bridges, election administration, parks & trails, and much more. Since being elected in 2023, Neil has championed innovation in local government and implemented policies to protect voting rights, expand paid leave, combat climate change, invest in indigent defense and data-driven policing, and cut taxes for first-responders. In so many of these policies, Montgomery County has enacted historic policies that have led the way in Pennsylvania. As Chair of the Board of Elections, Neil is focused on combating election disinformation, pioneering a national standard for voting rights, and ensuring safe and secure elections. Prior to elected office, Neil taught election law at the University of Pennsylvania Law School and served as the Executive Director of Indian American Impact, a national civic organization. Neil also worked as a consumer protection and workers’ rights attorney. Neil earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School on the Horace Lentz Scholarship. He received his B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College. Neil is the child of Indian immigrants and grew up in Carbon County, in a small coal and steel town in Northeast Pennsylvania. He lives with his wife Dr. Rachel Nash, an internal medicine physician, and his toddler son Avinash, in Narberth.

Elliot Imani Griffin, Esq.

Elliot Imani Griffin is an associate in the Litigation Department of Ballard Spahr LLP who focuses her practice on labor and employment matters. She is also a member of the firm’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Council and the DEI Counseling practice group. In her practice, she represents employers in federal and state court actions involving discrimination, retaliation, harassment, restrictive covenants, and breach of contract claims. Ms. Griffin also advises higher education institutions and government entities about traditional labor matters including union organizing campaigns, contract negotiations, and unfair labor practices. She represents municipalities, universities and affiliated health care institutions in grievance arbitrations involving disputes regarding employee discipline and contract interpretation. She also assists employers in navigating the labor and employment aspects of corporate transactions including due diligence, negotiating labor and employment portions of purchase agreements and transition services agreements and managing obligations related to unionized workforces. She earned her B.A. and J.D. from Temple University.

Joseph Hill

Bringing experience across public service, public affairs, political campaigns, and policy, Joe Hill is a managing director at Cozen O’Connor Public Strategies. In this role, he represents a diverse portfolio of Fortune 500 companies, nonprofits, and impact-oriented developers building transformational projects across the greater Philadelphia region. Joe’s government relations and public advocacy leadership extends across the state and local sectors, and he maintains strong national ties, playing a key role in the firm’s federal advocacy work. Prior to rejoining Cozen, Joe held senior campaign and administration roles with former Governor Tom Wolf, former Mayor Jim Kenney, and U.S. Senator Bob Casey, Jr. Recently, Joe served on the transition committees for Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parke. He is also a co-founder and board member of Black Leadership Pennsylvania (BLPA), a broad coalition of business, labor, community, and civic leaders committed to building Black political power in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Joe currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority and Mural Arts Philadelphia, He holds a B.A. from Georgetown University in Government and Philosophy, and currently lives in his native Philadelphia.

Elie Honig, Esq.

Elie Honig is a CNN Senior Legal Analyst who worked for 14 years as a federal and state prosecutor. He provides on-air commentary and analysis for CNN on news relating to the U.S. Department of Justice, major criminal trials, the Supreme Court, Congressional and grand jury investigations, national security, policing, and other legal issues. Honig is the national bestselling author of two books for HarperCollins, “Hatchet Man: How Bill Barr Broke the Prosecutor’s Code and Corrupted the Justice Department,” and “Untouchable: How Powerful People Get Away With It.” His third book, about the Justice Department’s use of special prosecutors to investigate presidents, will publish in September 2025. He writes a weekly column for New York Magazine and for Cafe.com, and he hosts two podcasts for Vox Media, including the true crime podcast “Up Against the Mob.” In 2022, Honig was nominated for an Emmy Award by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in the category “Outstanding News Analysis: Editorial & Opinion” for his CNN documentary about the 1961 war crimes trial of Adolf Eichmann, “Sixty Years Ago, We Saw the Face of Evil.” From 2004 to 2012, Honig worked as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, prosecuting and trying federal cases involving organized crime, human trafficking, public corruption, and violent crime. He successfully prosecuted over 100 members and associates of La Cosa Nostra, including Bosses and other high-ranking members of the Gambino and Genovese Organized Crime Families. Honig served as Deputy Director, and then Director, of the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice from 2012 through 2018. While Director, he supervised a staff of over 500 law enforcement professionals and approximately 1,000 cases per year. Honig also teaches at Rutgers University and works as special counsel to a New Jersey law firm, Lowenstein Sandler. He graduated from Rutgers College in 1997, and Harvard Law School in 2000.

Michael Smerconish, Esq.

Michael Smerconish is the host of a daily radio program heard nationwide on SiriusXM’s POTUS channel 124 from 9a.m. – Noon ET. He is also the host of CNN’s “Smerconish”, which airs Saturdays at 9 a.m. ET. He was a longtime newspaper columnist for the Philadelphia Daily News and Sunday Philadelphia Inquirer and his columns were routinely re-printed in newspapers all across the country. He is the author of eight books. He has donated all of the proceeds for five of them to charity. One was a novel, TALK, for which the television rights were optioned by Warner Brothers. His latest non-fiction book is titled: Clowns to the Left of Me, Jokers to the Right: American Life in Columns. His one-man, live performance, “Things I Wish Knew Before I Started Talking” debuted on Hulu and is currently streaming on Amazon, Apple and Google. He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Lehigh University and the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and resides in the Philadelphia suburbs where he and his wife have raised four children.

David J. Urban, Esq.

Mr Urban is also a Senior Political Commentator on CNN where he can be seen almost daily on the network’s flag-ship programming. Immediately prior to BGR, Mr. Urban served as Executive Vice President of North American Corporate Affairs for ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok and before that, served as the President of the American Continental Group, a boutique government affairs consulting firm. Corporate Board Member Magazine named Mr. Urban, one of “Washington’s Top 10 Lobbyists” and Board Prospects recognized him as one of “50 Military Board Members Making a Difference.” Roll Call identified “Urban [as] a member of Washington’s community of influential Republican moderates and pragmatists,” and The Hill has repeatedly named Mr. Urban a “Top Lobbyist” who has “mastered the art of working Capitol Hill’s hallways.” In a profile of Mr. Urban, Philadelphia Magazine said that “when [Urban] talks, Members of Congress listen.” When the Trump Administration was sworn in in 2016, Politico named Mr. Urban as one of the 30 most powerful people in “Trump’s Washington.” Mr. Urban has consulted on a variety of high profile House, Senate and Presidential campaigns and joined the 2016 Trump campaign in its early days working as an advisor in the Pennsylvania and Indiana primaries. After helping secure primary victories in both of those states, Mr. Urban moved to the Republican Convention in Cleveland where he served as the campaign’s senior political liaison at the convention. After the convention, Mr. Urban was named as a Senior Advisor on the campaign, leading the Trump campaign to a historic victory in Pennsylvania. Mr. Urban was appointed by the President Trump to be the Chairman of the American Battle Monuments Commission where he played a leadership role in the commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the World War I Armistice, the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day landings at Normandy, and the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Urban was also appointed by the President to the Board of Visitors (Trustees) for his alma mater, the United States Military Academy at West Point. Mr. Urban began his career in Washington DC as the Chief of Staff for legendary United States Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA) where he served for five years as the Senator’s senior advisor and strategist. An active member of the Pennsylvania and District of Columbia bar, Mr. Urban is admitted to practice before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Urban began his career, after graduating from West Point, as an artillery officer in the United States Army’s storied 101st Airborne Division. Illustrative of his distinguished record of consistently high performance during his time in uniform, Mr. Urban was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious achievement while engaged in combat operations against Iraq during Operation Desert Storm. Mr. Urban earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point, a Juris Doctor degree from the Temple University School of Law, and a Master of Government Administration degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Urban has also completed the Leading Sustainable Corporations Programme through Oxford University and the Stratfor Certification in Geopolitical Analysis through Florida Atlantic University.

Caroline Polisi, Esq.

Caroline J. Polisi is an esteemed white-collar and federal criminal defense partner at Armstrong Teasdale LLP. William J. Brennan, Esq.

William J. Brennan founded BRENNAN LAW OFFICES in 1989. Based in Philadelphia, Bill Brennan has handled thousands of cases ranging from Capital Homicide to Federal and State RICO matters.
